The Pacifica Sea Lions have a busy schedule coming up. The team is anxiously awaiting the start of Long Course Season (50 Meter Laps!) with the following meets on the schedule Santa Cruz Cabrillo Threshers at UC Santa Cruz April 21st and 22nd, as well as Los Altos Mountain View Aquatic Club at Foothill College on May 5th and 6th. Sandwiched between those meets is the 10 and under short course championships held in Sunnyvale Saturday April 28th. Then later the afternoon is the ever popular Spring Chicken Relays held at South San Francisco Aquatic Club. This event features many interesting events in which four aquatic clubs draft mixed teams and hold relays such as the eat-a-bana a lap relay, floating island relay, two-person breastroke relay, and the obstacle course realy to name a few. Please come by any or all of these exciting swim meets and cheer on your local swimmers admission is always free and you will enjoy a day outside in usually beautiful weather!
We want to call attention to the following six swimmers whose work efforts and determination have allowed them to qualify for the 10 and under short course championships. Christian Hammerich 8U Boys, Madison Gomes, Isabel Muirragui, Delaney Phipps and Michelle Simpson all 8U Girls, And Elle-Jay Cowan 10U Girls. For the first time in many years the Sea Lions will be fielding a relay team in a championship swim meet! Inspiration coaching and a renewed enthusiasm for swimming are to credit.
Assistant Coach Mary Germano and Head Coach Peter Song have worked tirelessly to assist these swimmers towards achieving goals they set at the start of short-course season this past September.
