The
Oceana pool had been the Sea Lions home for the last two
decades. The necessary repairs and maintenance to upkeep the
facility had been been put off because of numerous limits on school
district budget. In
November 2006, Measure N was approved by residents within the
Jefferson Union School District. The measure authorized "Jefferson
Union High School District to issue bonds in an amount not to
exceed $136.9 million for projects to: repair or replace electrical
and technological systems, plumbing systems, classroom interiors,
heating, ventilation, air conditioning, roofs, gutters, drains,
downspouts, athletic facilities, facility exteriors, and student
support facilities; construct, furnish and equip new classrooms,
libraries and other education facilities; make safety and
accessibility improvements; and increase energy efficiency."
The
repairs began June 2009 and is expected to be completed Summer
2010. Practices are being held at Terra Nova High school in
Pacifica.
